Boy using a asthma inhalator

AAAACHOOOOO!!! Tis the season! What do we do when our kids have red, watery, and itchy eyes or worse, can’t breathe?

Allergic asthma is the most common type of asthma. About 90% of kids with childhood asthma have allergies, compared with about 50% of adults with asthma. ((We can talk later about using clean products in your home to lessen the risk and symptoms)) The symptoms that go along with allergic asthma show up after you breathe allergy triggers like pollen, dust mites, pet dander, or mold spores in the air.

Plants to the rescue! Peppermint, Lavender, and Lemon!

Peppermint is a decongestant that opens airways so lemon/lavender can fight allergies.

#1 PEPPERMINT relaxes the smooth muscle surrounding airways and unclogs your sinuses

#2 LAVENDER – reduces allergic inflammation and the over-production of mucous from glands that is common in chronic bronchitis, allergies, and asthma by suppressing signals from T-helper-2 cells which trigger histamines.

#3 LEMON Targets long-term problems. Chronic allergies cause permanent changes (airway walls become thicker which narrows the passage) bronchial airways become hyper-responsive and they swell up and mucous hyper-production. Consistent use of Lemon will combat and start to reverse these effects

Oily Fix- it’s critical to use REAL essential oils. I can only speak to the integrity of Young Living as I’ve spent time on the farms, distilleries, and laboratories. REAL is kind of a joke, actually, because synthetic versions say they are real. If not YL, check your bottle to see if you can ingest it. Peppermint, Lavender, and Lemon are all plants you can EAT!! If it’s the real deal, you should be able to eat the.

For active symptoms – this is what we do, start low and go slow. My family has been using YL oils for eleven years. We load the diffuser with 8 drops of each oil. Put your nose in the mist and inhale deeply through the nose. The combination of PLL will kill fungi spores in the air. These spores might be what’s triggering your reaction. Also, Thieves oil kills those types of fungi (Cinnamon, Clove, Lemon, Eucalyptus, Rosemary). Tea Tree is the most famous fungi killer but the heavy hitters are Thyme and Oregano … they kill everything

To reduce future episodes – put 4 drops of each oil in a capsule with a carrier. Do this twice a day until symptoms are tolerable, then once a day through allergy season.

Bedtime – 10 drops of each oil, put the diffuser near your head, diffuse all night if bedtime symptoms are active, mix 3 drops of each oil in your palm with a carrier oil. Massage into the upper neck and upper back, then put a T-shirt on.
